Wrights Mill Farm

Today we went to see Wrights Mill Farm in Canterbury.
http://www.wrightsmillfarm.com/

We love this place. First off- check out the view...

And now picture it in the fall... wow!

Some absolutely gorgeous spots around the property (its a Christmas Tree farm!) for photos!

After seeing a banquet hall (yuck!) and an outdoor spot by the waterfall (meh), we were shown the outdoor pavilion (BINGO!)

Perfect. Its rustic- but nice. Outdoorsy, but with a roof. Its even got plastic that can roll down over the windows in the case of really bad weather.

This is the field next to the pavilion where we would have the ceremony if the weather was nice. Also- you can see the fire pit we would use for a bonfire (and smores!) once it got dark.

The raised area is where we would have the head table... and ceremony in the case of rain.

Here are some horseshoe pits next to the pavilion... we can set up volleyball & badminton too!

Nice bathrooms (not port-o-potties!) that have a covered walkway (again, in case of rain).

We adore this place. The perks are what you can see- a perfect spot... very "us". The packages include dinner & drinks... and can also include flowers, the cake, horsedrawn carriages, and even a little PONY that pulls a wagon filled with cheese, crackers, beer & wine while we tour the grounds taking photos after the ceremony.

Oh, and did I mention the adorable tree swing?!

The major perk is that even if it rains- we can still get married outside (in the pavilion) and not get stuck in a banquet hall we hate.

The bad stuff (every place has it!) - is that its nearly two hours from our house (1.5 hours from Bristol/Plainville) and the closest hotel is 15 or 20 minutes away. We're having trouble figuring out how we would travel between the two places (ride? limos?)

There is no bridal (or groom) suite on site, so we would get ready at the hotel and then drive to the space... or end up getting ready in bathrooms they could make private... but they would still be bathrooms.

The prices are on the higher end of our possible budget estimate.

Also- they do multiple weddings in the same day and only offer three wedding times (11am, 2pm & 5pm) so we might end up having to work around someone else's plans. I'm sure they do a good job keeping stuff separate- but that does limit our options a bit.

Also- the ceremony site is a LITTLE close to the parking lot for our tastes- especially if people are arriving for another wedding during our ceremony.

But all considered- we're thinking its our top choice at the moment. The White Memorial Conservation is really nice- but there just SO much setup and cleanup we would have to do ourselves...

We're going to keep looking... maybe see half a dozen places total, so stay tuned for more!!!
